✅ How to File a Confirmation Statement with Companies House
(2025 Guide)
Every UK limited company must file a confirmation statement (previously called the annual return) at least once every 12 months with Companies House. This is a legal requirement — and at Hiclass Accounting, we’re here to make it simple.
🔎 What Is a Confirmation Statement?
A confirmation statement is a document that confirms the information held by Companies House about your company is accurate and up to date. It includes:
-
Your registered office address
-
Names and details of company directors and secretaries
-
Your statement of capital and shareholder information
-
Your SIC code (business activity)
-
Details of people with significant control (PSC)
This isn’t your annual accounts or tax return — it’s a separate legal filing all UK limited companies must complete.
📅 When Do You Need to File a Confirmation Statement?
You must file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months. The due date is within 14 days of your confirmation period ending, which starts on either:
-
The day your company was incorporated, or
-
The date you last filed a confirmation statement
You can also file earlier if your company details change and you want the public record updated.
